Good news!
I had a pleasant email arrive in my inbox today: the OCA High-Performance Committee approved my request to race Sr. Expert for MTB-XC and Senior 3 road this year. As I noted before, I chased that mtb upgrade last season and fell short with 258.4 of 260 required points. Based on my cyclocross results and desire to improve, the HP committee agreed that I was up to the challenge. Now I need to make sure my legs are too. Just 11 weeks until the first O-Cup!

Excellent!
Racing in Expert and S3 will be a tough challenge but stick with it and you should do well.
Awesome now if I get my upgrade we will be racing road together !
The year after are you going for senior 1/2?
I don't think I'll do enough road racing this year to upgrade to 1/2, since I plan to focus on mtb in the summer, and then cross of course. Once I find my limit for the best I can do with mtb I may take some seasons to focus on road instead.
Nice man, see you at the start line in 11 weeks... and for road soon enough.
Justin, I think you can just sign up for an S3 license. The OCA rules state that Junior goes to S3 when you age out, but I think that document was written before S4 was invented (S3 used to be the lowest category).
Anyway, looking forward to racing with you (for at least the first 30 seconds) in expert.
That's an ambitious move Jeff. I think you probably have a pretty good idea of what you're getting into though. Good luck in 2010.
Thanks dude. Maybe you'll kill the first few races in Sport and join me ;)
Attaboy! I did the crazy thing and upgraded to pro-elite. Its gonna be a fun/tough year for both of us..
